Towards naturally stopping bedwetting
There are several signs that indicate that the child is about to naturally stop bedwetting, not all of which must occur at once:
🔹 Decreased number of wet nights:
This is the most important characteristic, which is manifested in a gradual and steady decrease in the number of wet nights. Sometimes, yet not very often, we might notice a decrease in the urination frequency, which turns steady over time. This case indicates that the learning process is incomplete and that in some situations the child’s restraint mechanism is still not functioning properly.
🔹 Waking up at night:
A child who has never woken up in the past, begins to wake up and asks to go to the bathroom.
🔹 Changes in bedwetting hours:
Bedwetting hours are getting pushed towards the morning. When the child wets during the third watch of the night, it indicates a proper functioning of the restraint mechanism for an extended period. Furthermore, the child manages to avoid getting wet during the first watch of the night, which is characterized by deep sleep, despite it being more difficult resisting to. 🔹 Urine stain size:
A gradual reduction in the size of the urine stain on the sheet, indicates that the urination action stops during the process. It means that the brain’s restraint mechanism performs self-repair that causes the bladder sphincter muscles to contract, and consequently stop the urination.
